We are traveling around the world for 1 year. We are traveling overland by train to Singapore from Portugal! We are currently in Turkey! We are taking a break from our around the world trip by rail to enjoy almost 2 months in Turkey, exploring nearly the whole country we will be enjoying the metropolis' of Modern Turkey, discovering ancient Greek and Roman cities, exploring the natural beauty and diving into mankind's pre-history past.

We escaped the heat of Sanliurfa and made it to Trabzon. Located on Turkeys North Coast on the Black Sea we found refuge here for a few days in the costal breeze! We spent some time wandering all around Trabzon. We saw the famous northern Hagia Sophia, Trabzon Castle (From a distance) and spent some time in Trabzon Square Park.

But there is so much to discover in the North Coast of Turkey… we couldn’t spend all our time in the city. So we visited, and show you how to get to Sümela Monastery, the monastery on the side of a cliff. We escaped the city and headed for the town of Uzungöl. This city hugs it’s mountain lake and is a very popular tourist location…. But not for western tourists! We were the only ones. Don’t worry, we show you how to get to Uzungöl too.
