TODAY'S ADVENTURE
Nan and Byron’s Restaurant in Charlotte, North Carolina – Grandma and Me TimeI have a confession to make. It has been YEARS since my grandma and I spent quality time together. Me and her. Honestly, while enjoying lunch together, we tried to remember the last time it happened, and the best we could do was vaguely come up with over a decade. That’s why we decided to have a special time together at Nan and Byron restaurant in Charlotte, North Carolina.
Living so far apart, and now having my own kids, life sometimes gets in the way of spending time with all loved ones.
Gratefully, I had the chance to take my grandma out while we visited Charlotte, North Carolina.
My WHOLE family arrived in Charlotte to celebrate my brother’s big day – his wedding. A huge, monumental occasion.
One day while everyone was busy getting dresses, tuxedos, rehearsing, and other misc. Stuff for the wedding, my grandma and I found we had time to go out for lunch, just the two of us.

Being in contact with Kristen from Charlotte’s Tourism Board, recommended the Nan and Byron’s Restaurant.
Since my sister-in-law and her family are from Charlotte, when I mentioned this as an option they all, in unison, said it was one of their favs.
With my Enterprise rental car, I was happy to see that they had their own private lot. Not that it’s hard to find parking spots in this city, but it’s such a perk to have this luxury. Especially because my grandma is blind, so the least walking she had to do, the better for her.
The restaurant is absolutely adorable inside.
They specialized in American fare and cocktails.
We loved the cocktails!
My grandma had a delicious mushroom soup and a salad full of shrimp.
I had the meatloaf sandwich. I don’t think I’ve ever eaten meatloaf in my life. So this was a great treat.
Spending time with my grandma was an unexpected gift and I’m so happy I was able to take her to one of Charlotte’s local’s spots.

The concept for Nan and Byron’s came from Grant Wood’s well-known 1930 “American Gothic” painting of the man and woman (Nan and Byron) holding a pitchfork in front of a farm.
