TODAY'S ADVENTURE
Barrymore Hotel Tampa Reviews – Staying in Downtown TampaLocation, location, location. Staying in Downtown Tampa is truly the way to start your Tampa trip.
Tampa in itself is a walkable a city with plenty of things to do in Tampa and see. However, when you stay along the river, and can walk along the river walk, you are so set.
My favorite way to start researching a trip is to always contact the tourism board first. Visit Tampa Bay was so helpful they immediately took over and helped me find my bearings, give me ideas on what to see, where to eat, and most importantly where to stay.
With some consideration, they pointed me to the Barrymore Hotel.
I’ll be honest here. I actually had no idea that staying Downtown would be the most ideal spot for me. One thing I find it to be extremely complicated is orienting myself to the places I’m about to visit. It’s always so hard to know if you are close to the attractions. If a car is needed. My main issue was that I would be carless for my trip there. I had no problem taking a cab. But if I can walk, I much rather do that.
Now that I’ve visited Tampa and truly got to know this city, I would so recommend staying on the river walk at least for part of your time in Tampa.
The hotel has 14 floors and the higher you stay the better your view of the river is. Here’s my view from the 9th floor. Pretty great!
I stayed in the double queen-sized room and it was really spacious, with TV, microwave and fridge.
There is internet in every room, fast and reliable. However, if you don’t have your computer, you can use any of theirs in the computer area.
They have a pool, but I seemed to arrive to Tampa during a freak cold front. And one thing I can say wholeheartedly, I was so grateful that the Barrymore had heating. It truly made all the difference.
The hotel is a little outdated. You won’t get a lot of the modern amenities as you would nowadays in most hotels. However, the location can’t be beaten and the staff is helpful and friendly.
The main restaurant at the hotel – WaterWorks Cafe has breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The hotel doesn’t offer room service, but whenever the restaurant is open you can place your order and come get it to go easily.
