Royal Caribbean is heading to land. The cruise line has agreed to buy a 50% stake in Sandals Resorts International for about $3 billion, creating a 50-50 partnership between two of the biggest names in Caribbean vacations.
Here's what we know: 🤝 The deal: Royal Caribbean Group CEO Jason Liberty and Sandals Executive Chairman Adam Stewart will jointly lead the partnership's board, and Stewart stays on to run Sandals. The deal is expected to close in early 2027.
🌴 The resorts: The partnership includes Sandals' adults-only all-inclusive resorts in Jamaica, Saint Lucia, the Bahamas, Barbados, Antigua, Grenada, Curaçao and Saint Vincent and the Grenadines. It also includes Beaches' family resorts in Negril and Turks and Caicos, with more Beaches locations planned.
🚢 What it could mean for you: Paired with Royal Caribbean's private islands and beach clubs, the deal opens the door to cruise-and-resort combo vacations. Details haven't been announced yet.
⭐ Loyalty news: Cruise Critic has learned the two companies plan to combine their loyalty programs. For now, existing bookings and loyalty points stay exactly as they are.
