Do you need Real ID to take a cruise? Answer: No, you don't.
While passengers can use identification documents like a driver's license for domestic air travel, the same doesn't apply for most cruise travel. And that's because most cruises involve international travel. Therefore, having a valid passport or passport card is usually a necessity.
What's more, if you're embarking your cruise outside of the US, you will also need your passport to travel to your embarkation port, as other REAL ID-compliant documents like driver's licenses are not accepted for international travel.
