Can you save money by cruising the Caribbean during hurricane season?
Cruising the Caribbean in hurricane season — what you gain, and what you're actually risking. Here's the tradeoff:
The season runs June 1st through November 30th. Fewer people are trying to escape winter, so fares come down and the islands are less busy.
But be clear-eyed. A port can get dropped for high winds. And sailings do occasionally get shortened, delayed, or cancelled outright. It's not common. It's not nothing.
So if you go: book a lower, mid-ship cabin — closest to the pivot point, least motion. And buy trip insurance early, because once a storm has a name, you can't insure against it.
